Born in a lawyer's family in the year 1954 (1.2.1954). Graduated in Science from Utkal University, Bhubaneshwar in the year 1974 and obtained LL.B.Degree (with Diploma in Taxation) from the Lucknow University in the year,1977. Enrolled as an Advocate in the year 1978 and started to practice before the Gauhati High Court as well as Subordinate Courts. Practiced very successfully in Civil, Criminal, Service and Constitutional matters in the Gauhati High Court and Supreme Court of India. Was one of the youngest Advocates ever designated as 'Senior Advocate' in the history of the Gauhati High Court (formerly Assam High Court) on 28.01.1994. Was the counsel of Manipur University, Canchipur, Imphal for a period of 6(six) years. Served as Legal Advisor of the Central Agricultural University, Iroisemba, Imphal. Successfully participated in important Enquiry Commissions as counsel either for the Ministry of Home Affairs, Union of India or Police Department, Government of Manipur or important officials. Was a Senior Member of the Supreme Court Bar Association, New Delhi and conducted a number of cases before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India. Served as Advocate General of Manipur (Cabinet Status) from 14.01.1998 to 27.03.2001. Elevated to the Gauhati High Court as an Additional Judge on 25.11.2004 and assumed as Judge of the same High Court on 27.02.2006. Ceased to be Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 23.03.2013 and sworn in as Judge of the High Court of Meghalaya on the same day.
