Born at Imphal in a family having judicial tradition. Graduated in Arts with
English Literature from Ewing Christian College, Allahabad in 1961. Obtained M.A. and
LL.B.Degrees in 1963 and 1965 respectively from Allahabad University. Enrolled as an Advocate on
15th February, 1966 in the Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, Manipur etc. Practised for 10 years
in various Courts in Manipur including the Court of Judicial Commissioner, Manipur and Gauhati
High Court. Served for 4 years as a part time Lecturer in L.M.S.Law College Manipur. Acted as an
Additional Public Prosecutor before joining Manipur Judicial Service in 1976. Worked in Various
capacities. Chief Judicial Magistrate, Subordinate and Assistant Sessions Judge, District and
Sessions Judge, Designated Judge (YADA), Special Judge (PC Act, N.D.P. & S. Act, E.C.Act),
Presiding Officer, MACT, President, District Forum of Consumers Protection Act, Registrar,
Imphal Bench of the Gauhati High Court etc. Took oath as an Additional Judge of the Gauhati High
Court on 26-02-1996 and as a Permanent Judge on 26-06-1997. Laid down His Lordship's Office on
1st September, 2003.
